Your Interesting Interstitium

As a teenager I used to LOVE the idea of marrying up different traditions with science and seeing where they overlapped. I remember watching a TV show that talked about how Jesus could’ve walked on water. I liked how meditation and prayer work so similarly on brainwaves. I just think that these thousands of years old traditions have lasted this long for a reason.

A “new” discovery!

Moving on! What is your interstitium…

  • It is an interconnected system of fluid-filled spaces within the fascia that links organs, tissues, and other layers of the body.
  • The scientists called it an unrecognised body-wide circulatory network.
  • This research suggests these spaces within the fascia are not isolated pockets but form a continuous pathway through which this fluid moves, flowing cells and molecules around the body before rejoining the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems.
  • Researchers are also investigating whether the interstitium can help explain how acupuncture works, providing a scientific bridge between TCM and modern biomedicine and slaking my ever-needy hunger for these explanations!

How do we use this knowledge?

To me this says that our old traditions and knowledge, that previously might have sounded like hooey, actually have a basis is real physical science. Yay for yogis and such all around! We know we’re not wasting our time time doing these “alternative” practices because we’ve felt it work but it’s nice to have some backing and something to say to newbies. It’s not hooey, it’s connected to your interstitium.

Join me on the mat to put this into practice!

So with that in mind I’m offering you a yoga and acupressure class designed to introduce you to this new topic and give you some science-backed ways to balance your body and feel great! I’ve given you two examples below that you can do now. The Gallbladder 20’s are my favourite and we’ll definitely be covering some of them in class! I hope to see you there!
